Mission

In 2007 a diverse group of Buddhist practitioners joined together to share information, encourage collaboration, and promote mutual understanding among local Buddhists of all traditions. The Buddhist Network of Central Ohio (BNCO) has waxed and waned in its activities and organizational structure with the intention to provide accessible online information on all local Buddhist groups and events. In the past, BNCO has organized talks that introduce interested individuals to the Buddha’s teachings in a non-sectarian manner (“Intro to Buddhism for the Curious”) and social gatherings that link local communities for mutual fellowship and understanding. We serve as a point of contact to the Interfaith Association of Central Ohio, area schools, and universities, and (pre-pandemic) provided resources and regular visits to correctional facilities with inmates interested in Buddhist practice. BNCO was previously lead by a volunteer board of five to nine directors drawn from the breadth of Buddhist lineages, though it is now in quiescence, like a tree in winter, waiting for the time to bloom again. This website is currently maintained by myself, Seth Josephson.
